Stolen iPhones Can Now Be Completely Blocked Using AT&T’s New Blocking Service Starting 10 July

Apple products are very precious and when it comes to the iPhone, it is no exception. iPhone is one of the most targeted smartphone in the world by thieves. This leaves some people really worried about their iPhone, we already have some applications that are used for blocking iPhone. Well AT&T has stepped up its game regarding stolen iPhone.


The folks over at The Verge are reporting that AT&T from July 10 will start a new blocking service for stolen iPhone.

Effective July 10, 2012, AT&T is launching a new security measure that allows customers to suspend service and block their device from being used on the AT&T network if the device has been lost or stolen.

This is definitely great news for those who have had their iPhone stolen previously, although we can not get the iPhone back but having the assurity that the thief can not use the iPhone will definitely make the pain less.
AT&T will start compiling a list of all iPhones that are being reported as stolen or lost, once the list is compiled AT&T will block the device if anybody tries to use it.
So what if the device had been stolen/lost but later recovered, would that mean the device would no longer be eligible to use? Well the AT&T has it covered for you. To remove a blockade on a device, only the person who originated the block can request a removal, so that means only you (the person who reported about the stolen iPhone) can access the device again.
The blockade service will start from July 10 and to report a stolen device the person has to directly contact an AT&T customer representative.
