The
fourth-generation iPad from Apple has been jailbroken, that is what the
Developer Grant Paul (@chpwn), a supporter to the Cydia open source
project has verified via his Twitter feed.
“It
doesn’t look any different than on the iPad (3rd generation), but
here’s Cydia running on the iPad (4th generation),” reads a tweet
from the developer of apps and extensions for jailbroken iOS devices…
Chpwn, answering a follower’s question, made clear that the hack is
“just meant for jailbreak developers to work on other jailbreaks.”
The hackers have been capable to get
around Apple’s security in iOS 6.0.1 on the A6X chip, the most recent
iDevice processor, as stated by the above screenshot… Despite this
jailbreak most likely still far off the public, the news is most
exciting for jailbreak fans… On even older devices, members of the
iPhone Dev Team and Chronic Dev Team are still working to accomplish
jailbreaks, so you shouldn’t anticipate this one to go out almost
immediately.
